They’re incredibly choosy about who they’ll let adopt from them. The staff have been rude to me and my partner every time we have visited. On our most recent visit, we filled out their application form and wrote that we were considering allowing our cats outside in the future. Maybe a rookie mistake — I was living abroad and had no trouble letting my pets outside there. It sounds like the situation here in Baltimore County is that indoor only is the way to go. The staff was very informative on this topic, but only after I’d filled out the form. We were told that since we put on record that we would consider letting our pets outside, we will never in the future be allowed to adopt here. The sad part is they convinced us it was a bad idea, but told me they had to assume I was lying when I said we would be keeping them inside. Well, in reality I have now cancelled the tradesman who was going to install a cat door in my home. So their education works, but I think should be made accessible to all when they walk in the door, not used as a tactic to weed out prospective adopters. It’s sad they don’t have more faith in the integrity of their visitors, especially folks wanting to give a pet a home.

We’re now on our second adoption with this shelter our first (daisy) the shepherd mix was a fear bitter , we went through several appointments to make sure she was a right fit . We brought our dogs in to meet her to get her comfy we’ve now had her a little over a year , the puppy is our new adopty we needed a friend for our daisy since we recently lost our shihtzu. I’ll always go to this shelter when ever we have the desire for a new fur baby. This shelter really knows what they are doing and is very cautious for the future of the animals

This place is absolutely wonderful. Staff are patient and extremely kind. The dogs and cats I got to meet were beyond sweet and just want love. Moose (a larger white cat with black spots) was very shmoozy as was Jessica (a petite mostly black cat). I cannot imagine trying to pick just one to bring home. I have been coming here to adopt new family members for 35+ years and will continue because they have great staff who know and care about their animals. I like that they have a cat room where the kitties can relax and play and it you can tell that they are happy kitties. In total my family and I have adopted 5 new family members from here and they have all been the best pets and that is because they came from a great shelter.

The best place to find a furry companion. My wife and I have adopted 2 cats from here over the years and we are really a fan of the cat rooms they have set up. You can enter one of two different rooms full of cats and let THEM choose YOU, which we fell is a much better way of finding a compatible fur baby than simply picking one from a store because they're "cute." Being able to spend some time with them in a large open room really lets you get a feel for their personality and is especially helpful to see how they interact with other cats, should you be adding to your already occupied (but never quite full) furever home 😼😺
